Andy, master brewer, and Brad, brewery manager, started off home brewing together for several years before they decided that they wanted to make their own craft brewing business. They knew Ed for some time, and decided that a partnership with him could lead to a successful venture; soon enough, Brew Rebellion was born! Brew Rebellion is known for having incredibly unique beers with recognizable names, such as Grandpa Brian’s Famous Apple Pie, the Chris Martin S’More Porter, and the John Paul Jones Peanut Butter Stout. The tap list at their location in Yucaipa features a rotating menu of about six beers; if you see one you like, get it now, because it might not be there when you come back! The Brew Rebellion team purposely brews in small batches, around 30-50 gallons at a time, so that they can offer their customers as large a variety of flavors as possible.

In 1992, Jack White started Home Brew Mart. Home Brew Mart was meant to be a place where home brewers could come and purchase all the items necessary to make their own beer. Jacks goal was to eventually start his own brewery, and lucky his dream came true. In 1996 Home Brew Mart’s opened a backroom brewery behind the shop, called Ballast Point.
Ballast Point was based on the philosophy of “always doing what you love, and making what you love to drink.” The crew decided to name the beers after something they loved- fishing. Today, many of the beers are named after fish or fishing terms.
Ballast Point currently has four locations in San Diego, each with their very own tasting room.
Stop on by their store to taste their awesome beer, and make sure to try them while you are at our Taste of Brews Long Beach craft beer festival. http://www.tasteofbrews.com
We are excited to announce that Fireman’s Brew is going to be participating in the 5th anniversary Taste of Brews Long Beach event on August 22nd!
In December 2000, Rob and Ed were sitting on a steep hillside of an extinguishing brushfire above the Glendale Mountains. They were staring into the midnight sky, dreaming of the cool smooth taste of a fresh beer to quench their scorched dry mouths. From this point, these two Los Angeles based firemen set out to brew the best in the world. The result was Fireman’s Brew, the perfect choice to “Extinguish Your Thirst” & “Ignite the Party”!
Their thirst for beer and coffee after that exhausting day launched them into developing a hero’s brand of products that every American could relate to. With every product sold, Fireman’s Brew donates a portion of its profits to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in Emmitsburg, Maryland. So whether your beverage of choice is beer, coffee, or root beer, sit back and relax with the smooth taste of a fresh Fireman’s Brew!

El Segundo Brewing Company began when founder Rob Croxall had had enough of his corporate job in aerospace finance and decided to dive headfirst into the world of craft beer. As Rob says, “My worst day here still beats my best day there.” We’re glad he made the move! ESBC focuses on hoppy beers; their brews “have firm bitterness, but tend to be more restrained than other West Coast IPAs.” They recently came out with Hammerland, which won Gold at the 2015 Hayward Bistro Double IPA Festival. Other beers available for tasting in their taproom include the Blue House Pale Ale, Blue House Citra Pale, White Dog IPA, and Hyperion’s Stout, just to name a few. The Blue House logo on their bottles represents small-town America and the ideals of hard work and perseverance. ESBC focuses on quality (even if it means more time and money), putting family first, and having fun. If you’re not having a good time, what’s the point?
Have a good time at this year’s Taste of Brews event in Long Beach! El Segundo Brewing Company will be showcasing their fantastic beers, along with dozens of other breweries. To get tickets, visit http://www.tasteofbrews.com/LBTOB.html.
San Diego’s first microbrewery, Karl Strauss Brewing Company came into existence in 1989 and has been crafting delicious beers ever since. Entrepreneurs Chris Cramer and Matt Rattner were inspired by a brewpub in Australia, and luckily Chris’ cousin was none other than Karl Strauss, a renowned master brewer. Together, they created an establishment that has set the standard for San Diego’s booming craft beer industry. Try the Tower 10 IPA, which is named after the location in Mission Beach where these men first drew up plans for their brewery. Then of course there’s their Red Trolley Ale, which has won 18 medals to date. The Pintail Pale Ale and the Karl Strauss Amber are two other beers that are made year-round, but they also have seasonal offerings, along with their Coastal Reserve and Imperial Collection series. Mosaic Session Ale is one of their newest offerings, and it is now available year round! In addition to their tasting room and beer garden in San Diego, Karl Strauss Brewing Company has restaurants throughout Southern California.
