The Little Red Dog, on of our amazing charity partners for Twilight Tasting, has something new and important happening that we want to share with all of you!

10827901_880985985274344_1822070207399144120_oThey have brought back $10 Tuesdays! They work very hard to rescue and help as many dogs in need as they possibly can. As you can imagine, in doing so this, has become expensive through the many vet bills that stack up and the need for training.

On Tuesdays, make sure you donate $10 dollars to help pay for vaccines, training bills, and more. You can even have the chance to win TLRD merchandise!

Featured Brewery – Mission Brewery

Beer is our Passion.

 1479342_667997186574114_1413226625_n

Mission Brewery was first established in 1913. During the first year of the Prohibition, it went out of business (like most of the breweries during this time). In 2007, Dan Selis took his passion for home-brewing and created it into something more by re-establishing the Mission Brewery brand and moved the tasting room and manufacturing to Downtown San Diego in the Historic Wonder Bread building in the East Village.

sz-650x315-jk_a0045-copyFor over seven years now, Mission has been brewing commercially. Winning over 30 National and International awards along the way, it is easy to see why Mission is one of the top craft breweries in San Diego County.

The newest exciting news from Mission Brewery is their collaboration with Alpine! Together, this unstoppable team brewed together one incredible IPA. They just tapped this special brew at the sz-650x315-img_0265official release party on January 23rd so make sure you make it on down to Mission’s tasting room to be one of the first to try the newest addition to the many award winning craft beers! If you can’t make it out to the San Diego tasting room, fear not! This IPA will soon be available in all the favorite spots around San Diego and beyond! (Maybe even Twilight Tasting!)

Don’t miss the chance to try Mission’s award winning and creative beer at our 2nd Annual
Twilight Tasting event on March 7th! You can purchase tickets HERE!!!

Featured Brewery – Left Coast Brewing Co

Featured imageLeft Coast is an independent brewery, with limited bottle accounts in 27 states. Left Coast also produces 8 full time beers for the Oggi’s Pizza & Brewing Co Franchise. Opening their San Clemente doors in January 2004, they produced over 3500 barrels of beer (or 7000 kegs of beer) in just one year. They now have the capacity to produce more than 14,000 barrels in their facility.

Left Coast produces six beers full time- Hop Juice Double IPA, Asylum Belgian Style Tripel Ale, Trestles IPA, Voo Doo American Stout, Del Mar St. Dortmunder Style Export Lager, and Una Mas Amber Lager. They also produce four seasonal beers throughout the year- Red Tide Belgian (spring), The Big Office IPA (summer), Ale Epeteios Imperial Stout (fall), and The Wedge Black IPA (winter).

Featured image

Their flagship beer is the Hop Juice Double IPA. This beer is a hop monster! Five different hop varieties are used in the Hop Juice. This beer starts out sweet and finishes with the crisp bitterness of a Double IPA.

At Left Coast they do things a little differently than most. Twice a week you can indulge yourself in some yoga and beer… yes I said yoga! On Tuesdays and Sundays, Left Coast offers Bend and Brew Yoga sessions. This involves an hour long yoga class in the brewery and a pint of beer for after. So why not get your zen on, then your buzz on? If you aren’t into the Featured imagewhole yoga thing, their tasting room is open to the public Monday–Friday starting at 4pm, and Saturday and Sunday starting at 12pm.

If you can’t make it down to San Clemente for their tasting room, you’re in luck! Left Coast will be joining us at Twilight Tasting, so make sure you buy your tickets. Go to http://www.twilighttasting.com for more details about the event.

Featured Winery – Ascension Cellars

Featured image

Ascension Cellars is a boutique winery specializing in premium limited production, barrel select, hand crafted Rhone and Bordeaux-style wines from the central coast of California.

Featured image

Ascension sources their grapes and makes their own wine at Cass Vineyard. They focus on low yield, premium quality fruit as well as the impeccable care of their vineyards. When visiting the winery you can touch, taste, see and small the grapes! Cass Vineyard is located in the rolling hills between Paso Robles and Creston in California.

Their philosophy: “Our love of French Rhône and Bordeaux wines influence every wine we craft. We believe in a limited, light-handed approach to winemaking, allowing the true typicity of each varietal and the terroir of the vineyard to shine through as the star of each vintage, preserving the wine’s link to its place of origin. This allows us to create wines that are distinctive and hypnotic with personality, charm, balance and grace.”Featured image

For you red wine loves, Ascension barrel ages their red wines for two years in French and American Appalachian Oak barrels. They blend their Rhone and Bordeaux varietals to produce wines that are more complex, better balanced, and richer than single, varietal wines.

Featured imageThe Taste of Brew crew is excited to have the wine and craft beer world mix for one night. We are looking forward to having Ascension at Twilight Tasting for everyone to enjoy. Featured Brewery – Barley Forge Brewing Co.

We are proud to announce that Barley Forge will be at Twilight Tasting!

barley_forge_logo

Barley Forge Brewing Co. “brews Belgian, West Coast and German-style beers – a blend of traditional, recognized styles and creative twists that draw from the melting pot of cuisines and cultures in Southern California.”  With their grand opening to the public on November 15, 2014, they are located in Costa Mesa and also very proud to be Costa Mesa’s first production brewery. In addition to be one of the hottest beer destinations in Southern California, they also have a licensed kitchen that serves delicious food to perfectly pair with their craft brews.

16420_808833982513304_8999459802630376283_nGreg Nylen (president and co-founder), Mary Ann (vice-president, co-founder, and wife), Dave Stole (design director, co-founder, and long time friend), and Dave Chapman (packaging director, co-founder, and dear friend) put in a lot of work to bring Barley Forge Brewing Co. to life. They have created a welcoming area with a large tasting room where you can find their delicious craft beers on tap, order savory foods, and more. If you are the designated driver for the night or just want to try a different creation by Barley Forge, they also have homemade sodas! The soda operation is headed by Gram Nylen, Greg and Mary Ann’s son. He wishes to bring Orange County some of the best  artisanal sodas it has ever seen!

One of Barley Forge’s featured craft beers is what you might call “perfection.”  As they describe it, Don Perfecto is like the perfect man that “will always be faithful, bring you flowers “just because,” put the toilet seat down without being asked, and bring home the bacon on bended knee.”  Just like the perfect man, this craft beer has been created to perfection. With it’s Belgian-style witbier, this beer is brewed with a twist of Mexican cinnamon and vanilla bringing out the refreshing flavor of horchata.  The Don Perfecto (“Mr. Right”) will never be the wrong choice! The Barley Forge Tasting room is open 7 days a week, so grab your friends and head on down to try some Don Perfecto and more!

Featured Brewery – Drake’s Brewing

Featured image

In 1989 the soon to be owner of Drakes, took a trip from Berkeley to the industrial San Leandro in the hopes to find a warehouse space for a new brewery. They found a location at a former Caterpillar manufacturing plant and decided to make it theirs. They named the brewery after the English privateer Sir Francis Drake. Every Friday friends were invited to the brewery for some beers and BBQ. This enabled the brewery to successfully take off and make it a stop for friends and locals to hang out and drink some fresh local beer.

In 2002 Drake’s began bottling their beer for the first time. They also took Gold at the Great American Beer Festival for their Drake’s IPA. Leading to 2008 Drake’s expanded their productivity by 50% each year! Even still, Drake’s is growing. Their pride and passion for the job is what fills the tanks each day and helps make us one hell of a beer!

Featured imageStarting January 31, Drake will be coming out with their seasonal beer called Hopocalypse. This Double IPA is filled with American hops, and has the aroma of grapefruit, guava, and pine. This beers motto is “Drink fresh and remember, #TheEndIsBeer”

Featured image

There is also the Hopocalypse Black Label! This is a Triple IPA with 12.5% ABV. Also available on January 31, this beer will be distributed to select locations and events in California, so keep your eyes open! Maybe these will make an appearance at Twilight Tasting. Featured Brewery – Karl Strauss

Featured image

Karl Strauss started crafting the San Diego scene in 1989. Being the only brewery in San Diego, two entrepreneurs, Chris Cramer and Matt Rattner, needed some help from a brewing master. They called in Chris’ cousin, Karl Strauss. Karl helped pave the way for the high standards Karl Strauss Brewing Company sets today.

Featured image  Featured image  Featured image  Featured image

Now Karl Strauss Brewing Company loves exposing fans to beers they have never tried, creating a work life balance for their employees, and being part of their local community.

The award winning Red Trolley Ale is a medium bodied beer with heavyweight malts. This Featured imageFeatured imagebeer started out as their first holiday beer. But soon after, many people jumped on the Red Trolley bandwagon and this beer became year around… and we are so happy for that!

The Karl Strauss Amber was created for the one and only Karl Strauss. He believed that behind every beer recipe was an inspiration and behind every pint was a story waiting to be told. This beer was his story, a story that challenged and inspired a new generation of brewers.

Featured imageFeatured image

The Tower 10 IPA has hops, hops, hops. The brew kettle is filled to the brim with assertive Chinook hops, giving the beer intense grapefruit and pine flavors that linger through its dry finish.

We are thrilled to have Karl Strauss at Twilight Tasting for the second time! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Monday Stories – Twilight Tasting

Featured image

Taste of Brews’ prides itself on providing a wide mix of craft breweries at all of our events; from start-ups and true micro brews to regional stalwarts and national powerhouses. Literally, there is something for Featured imageeveryone—much of it not available at your local BevMo. Twilight Tasting takes this concept to a new level with an amazing lineup of 20 breweries that includes a six-pack from the OC that are fueling (silly airplane museum pun) excitement for the March 7 event which is held at a WWII airplane museum full of historic planes and autos; many worth millions.

Maybe the Taste of Brews’ crews is a little biased being based in Huntington Beach, but we are incredibly stoked to see the energy and enthusiasm that Beach City (HB), Four Sons (HB) and Barley Forge (Costa Mesa) are bringing to the local craft beer scene. It’s been a long time coming and residents are definitely benefiting from the passion and creativity emanating from within the walls of these amazing establishments. Way to go brewers…keep up the great work!

Featured imageFeatured imageFeatured image

Not to be outdone, Valiant and Bootleggers from inland OC and Left Coast representing our southernmost OC brewery in San Clemente bring a different vibe to Twilight along with some of the most amazing beer you’ll ever taste. They are great supporters of all our events (Inland Empire, Long Beach) and we look forward to their special offerings. You can find more details all of our participating breweries at tasteofbrews.com and on our Facebook posts.

Featured imageFeatured image Featured image

Our goal is to visit every “local” brewery in the lead up to Twilight since we can’t drink while working!

And finally, unlike some beer tasting festivals, Twilight Tasting features unlimited tastes in 6oz stemmed glassware plus all-inclusive boarding passes that include food, wine, desserts, valet parking, hard ciders Featured imageand much more. Layer in live tunes from Rocky’s Revival (two very talented young ladies), philanthropy and a laid-back, but upscale atmosphere, Twilight Tasting delivers a not-to-be-missed evening for groups, singles, craft beer and wine fans, foodies, networkers and anyone else just looking for a badass evening!
